You’ve tried to figure this out. It hasn’t worked.
Maybe you’ve read every book. Done therapy before. Had the same conversation with your partner a dozen times. And somehow you keep ending up in the same place.
The exhaustion of that isn’t just about the situation. It’s about the slow, creeping feeling that maybe this is just who you are. That maybe you’re the problem. That something in you is broken in a way that doesn’t get fixed.
You’re not broken. You’re running on patterns that were built a long time ago, in rooms you couldn’t leave, by people who were supposed to keep you safe. And no amount of insight changes a pattern until you understand where it actually started.
That’s what we do here.

I know what it’s like to feel like you’re doing everything right and still not getting anywhere.

I’m Esther Teitelbaum, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Cedarhurst, NY. I’ve spent my career working with people who are smart, self-aware, and trying their hardest, and still feel completely stuck.
I’ve worked with survivors of domestic violence. With couples who love each other and can’t stop hurting each other. With adults who grew up in homes that looked fine from the outside and didn’t feel fine on the inside.
What I’ve learned is that most of the patterns people are stuck in aren’t character flaws. They’re adaptations. They made sense once. And with the right kind of help, they can change.
I work in person in Cedarhurst, NY and online for clients across New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
Here's How it Works
1
We talk first, no commitment
A free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. You tell me what’s going on. I tell you how I work. Easy.
2
We find the actual root
Not just what happened this week. We connect the present to where the pattern actually started, so what’s been confusing finally makes sense.
3
You move forward differently
Not just with more awareness, but with real change in how you feel, how you respond, and how you relate. That’s the whole point.
Who I Work With

Individuals: Attachment & Relationship Patterns
You keep ending up in the same place. In the same kind of relationship, the same emotional spiral, the same exhaustion. You’re not doing it on purpose. You’re running a pattern that started long before you had any say in it.

Couples: Emotionally Focused Therapy
You love each other. You’re also driving each other crazy in the exact same way, over and over, and talking about it hasn’t helped. The problem isn’t that you don’t communicate. It’s what’s happening underneath the communication.

Trauma & High-Conflict Family Dynamics
You grew up in a home that didn’t feel safe, whether anyone would have called it that or not. And you’re still carrying it, in your relationships, your self-worth, and the way you move through the world.

What changes when the pattern finally makes sense
-
You stop bracing for the next blow-up and start actually trusting what’s in front of you
-
You recognize the spiral before you’re already inside it
-
You stop apologizing for needs that were always legitimate
-
You have the same hard conversation, and it actually lands differently this time
-
You feel, maybe for the first time, like the relationship you’re in, with your partner or with yourself, is one you actually want to be in
